Farm Internships

Rising Phoenix Farm has been working with interns for 12 years.

I couldn’t have asked for a better place to intern and am thankful to Heather-Marie and John for giving me the opportunity to join them on their farm this summer!

— Alli, 2021 summer intern

Summer internships:

Rising Phoenix Community Farm works with interns during the spring and summer growing season. The position is a great opportunity to learn first hand about what it’s like to work on and run a community supported agriculture farm. The farm uses a market garden approach and grows chemical free vegetables.

The intern will help with vegetable harvesting and processing one day a week. You can expect to be involved in all aspects of the farm’s operations: transplanting and seeding vegetables, cultivation, field work and harvesting.

Students from the University of Minnesota Duluth Land Lab join Heather-Marie and our summer intern, Alli, for a day of transplanting at the farm.

Qualifications:

  • Attention to detail
  • Reliability and timeliness
  • Positive can-do attitude
  • Cleanliness and ability to follow food safety measures
  • Good physical condition

Note: Preference will be given to women and people from BIPOC communities with an interest in learning more about sustainable farming techniques.

Benefits:

  • A CSA share each week (a box of seasonably available vegetables). This is a $600 value
  • Additional shares of vegetables
  • A small stipend at the end of the season
  • A hearty vegetarian lunch made from produce harvested fresh from the field
